Our Brother = Great BYU Fan

With a layoff until the Vegas Bowl--for which we have tickets--we figured we'd post a "hodge podge" of BYU Football links, including this fantastic picture of our brother after the game.

Thanks also to our friend at the University of Utah who provided this ticket.

In other news, reader and frequent contributor Morgan Habedank has provided us with a link to a quality version of BYU highlights from last week's game. Click here.

We've been searching for some great pictures we saw posted to Cougarboard by one Dan Ransom, but have been unable to relocate them. If any of you know where they can be found, please email us or post a link in the comments section and we'll repost the link as an update in the body of this post.

**Update: As you can see, we've located the picture and the website--danransom.com (hat tip: Morgan Habedank, again). His game photos are incredible as you can see from this example. Click on the link above and check them out.

Now if Beck would only join the military Jake's semi would become a mast you could hang the flag on.

The following link contains the "best guesses" of 5 historians who attempt to divine how history will judge Bush. It may be a little too early to have this dicussion, but then again, this blog once had the audacity to claim that history would view Bush as the Churchill of our time. Care to write a post that defends that position Jake? Should be good reading a few years from now.

Please enjoy:

Here's another article for y'all to enjoy. In it the author makes the claim that by ignoring inequalities and refusing to provide guidance and assistance to those who are personally injured by globalization, the government actually hurts free trade by creating a protection-seeking populace. Any thoughts?

p.s.- Since I am posting political comments on a sports section, I should at least include something that is sports related. So, I would just like to extend my sincerest best wishes to both of the former coaches of our rival schools- Urban Meyer and Gary Crowton. May you both have wonderful victories in your bowl games.

Only 4 historians there Raisin

Dearest Formerly,

The first four are clumped together, and then after six other articles you will find the fifth, What Will History Say?: He's Only The Fifth Worst. See if you can guess the four former presidents who beat W out for the spot.

As Always,

Your Loving and Adoring Father

p.s.- Does anyone else here have problems seeing the visual verification at times when attempting to leave a comment? Several times I have attempted to do so and I cannot see the letters. Maybe the server automatically makes it difficult for loudmouths to hog all the comment sections...

What is this raisin, no props to our friendly photographer for his fantastic football images? I thought you and Dan were friends anyways?

Also, since you seem to enjoy stirring the pot, what is your conspiracy theory as to why Utah was cheated out of a victory? Ineligible reciever down field, Harline stepped out, or what? Perhaps you can give us something meaty to chew on besides this political nonsense.

ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

I haven't spoken to Dan for some time, but he's The Man and is deserving of all the praise you or I can heap upon him. Great picture from Dan, although I wish the football would have sailed high and nailed some zoobie photographer snapping pictures next to him in the Y. (The Y being that fleshy Y-shaped patch he/she would claim to be a crotch.)

My conspiracy theory? None. I thought the pass interference call was bad, but you can't blame refs for the outcome. The Utes snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as they say. Oh well, BYU needed the win to keep the rivalry alive and well. And Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are all pretty die-hard BYU fans, but that's not really a conspiracy, just an accepted fact. When Harline caught the ball for the win, 12 million mormons (including the 70+% who are inactive) around the world erupted into jubilant celebration, the skies thundered with Heavenly Father and Jesus giving each other high fives, and the Holy Ghost banged his shin on the coffee table as he jumped to his feet. At least he didn't knock over the punch like he did back in '84. That red U-shaped stain on Heavenly Mother's pristine white carpet is still an embarrassment for the gang. You should check it out if you ever happen to hie to Kolob.

Can't say I wouldn't vote for Romney. I am religiously biased in his favor, and he seems to be a very capable leader, intelligent, and honest- attributes we have missed for the past 6 years in the White House. I probably don't agree with him on social issues, but you vote for your priorities, and I really don't care too much about those evangelical base exciters. I am excited to see how Romney positions himself, and although I understand his need to appeal to the social conservatives as he runs against McCain and Rudy G., I will be interested to hear his stance on the "meatier" issues.

Raisin,

Your last couple of posts have been way to reasonable and thoughtful, did you bang your head?

Just kiddin.

In all honesty, I appreciate when you candidly discuss your politics and take jabs at lybbert's biases using his own stuff. I may not agree with you, but I like the more reasonable you than the ranting-raisin that sometimes shows up. In fact, I think that's one more good version of your name you can use in the future, just make sure you give me credit.

Thanks for pointing out the location of the other article, I'll read it after I post this comment.

Formerly,

Come on, now you're just making me look bad by turning the other cheek. I feel like the Grinch whose cold heart finally melted. Trying... to... find... something to... rant.. about... but... can only... think of... nice things... Cold heart... melting... filled with... love and good cheer. Must quit... typing.... before the... sentimental side... comes out..
